Today we rode two of the most widely regarded roads for motorcycles in the USA.
Skyline Drive (https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/driving-skyline-drive.htm) starts in northern Virginia and winds its way south along the crests of the Blue Ridge mountains for over 100 miles. It’s a national park created by the US back in the 30’s as a make work program during the depression.
Today’s ride was literally in the heavens as the road was shrouded in clouds and mist making driving difficult and slow. We did get a few peaks at vistas and hope to come back to see it in fall foilage
The Skyline Drive continues south as the Blue Ridge parkway. Today we covered some 130 miles of it’s 469 miles. It’s northern end is in Virginia and it continues south into North Carolina. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Ridge_Parkway
Today it was fabulous with nearly no traffic and gorgeous views all along the way
Tomorrow we will continue on the Blue Ridge into North Carolina
This part isn’t the fastest way to get to California but has been well worth it.
